Islamabad, September 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador Damián Cordero recently met here with Murtaza Solangi, spokesman for Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, to discuss issues of mutual interest and strengthen relations between the two countries, diplomatic sources reported today.
In a meeting at the Cuban embassy in Islamabad, Cordero thanked the high-ranking Pakistani official for his visit, according to information sent to Prensa Latina.
In a reciprocal gesture, Solangi stated that it was an honor to visit the mission of the Caribbean country and highlighted that the Cuban people were the first to arrive and the last to leave during the 2005 earthquake.
The meeting, held in a cordial and respectful atmosphere, focused on analyzing issues of mutual interest and ways to promote bilateral relations in all sectors, the Cubaminrex website highlights.
During the meeting, Cordero informed the presidential spokesman about the difficult situation that Cuba is going through, derived from the intensification of the multidimensional blockade imposed by the United States government, in addition to an energy embargo and military threats.
For his part, the presidential spokesman thanked them for the information received and, in his capacity as a political analyst, presented the Cuban ambassador with a book he had authored.
At the end of the visit, the Pakistani presidential spokesman toured the photographic exhibition at the embassy commemorating the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.
He also noted the donations of medical supplies that Pakistani doctors trained in Cuba organize to send to the island, a gesture he greatly praised.
