Belgrade, Feb 16 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador in Belgrade Leyde Rodriguez Hernandez attended a State Ceremony in Orašac on the Serbian State Day, also attended by Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić, diplomatic sources noted on Friday.

The commemoration is connected with the beginning of the First Serbian Uprising in Orašac on February 15, 1804, and the proclamation of the Sretenje Constitution of the Principality of Serbia on February 15, 1835, the source added. On its X account, Cuba’s Foreign Ministry congratulated the people and Government of the Republic of Serbia on the occasion of their National Day.

“We ratify the will to continue to strengthen the historic relations of friendship and cooperation between our countries,” the Cuban Foreign Ministry noted.

During the State ceremony in Orašac, Bishop Jovan of Šumadija said that a nation that does not remember its predecessors and the past is not worthy of the present and the future.

Dačić, in turn, noted that “exactly 220 years ago, the most prominent people of the Serbian people gathered in this place and made one of the most important decisions in our history.”

They decided to start the struggle for freedom, which the previous generations had been dreaming about for centuries, the head of Serbian diplomacy added.

The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, indicated that he is convinced that the unity of the Serbian people is unbreakable and indestructible, wherever our people are.

Havana, Feb 13 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Tuesday received the credentials of seven new ambassadors accredited to the Cuban authorities and representing countries from different latitudes.

The head of State welcomed the heads of the diplomatic missions from Malaysia, Dominica, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Australia, Oman and Zambia, the Presidency of the Republic reported on its X account.

As usual, the president was accompanied by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, at an official ceremony that took place at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana.

Damascus, Feb 14 (Prensa Latina) The mechanisms and possibilities for economic and trade cooperation were the center of talks in this capital between Cuban Ambassador to Syria, Luis Mariano Fernández, and Abdula Huda Laham, president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce.

Fernández highlighted the excellent relations between the two nations and the need to take concrete steps so that economic cooperation and commercial exchanges reach the same level as the excellent relations in the political and diplomatic fields.

We call on all companies and entrepreneurs in Syria to take advantage of the facilities granted for investments in Cuba.

Laham, in turn, suggested more participation in the economic fairs and events held in both countries to create more exchanges among entrepreneurs.

Usama Mostafa, lawmaker and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce in Rural Damascus, a province with more than 70,000 factories and companies, expressed interest in the Cuban market and in achieving cooperation. He expressed his willingness to improve contacts between entrepreneurs of both countries.

The export of textiles, clothing, sweets, and olive oil to Cuba and charcoal, generic medicines, and vaccines to Syria were under discussion during the meeting.
