More powdered milk from US friendship group for Cuban hospitals

Washington, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) Another batch of 1,650 pounds of milk have reached hospitals in Cuba, thanks to “Leche pa’Cuba’s” (Milk for Cuba) campaign that currently encourages the Bridges of Love movement in the United States and the Code Pink pacifist organization.

This modest contribution, which has already in Cuba, was destined for the Maternity and Children’s Hospital in the Havana municipality of 10 de Octubre and Santa Cruz del Norte, in western Mayabeque province, activist Carlos Lazo told Prensa Latina.

The donation of milk resulted from the support and cooperation of Cuban emigrants and US citizens who oppose the US blockade against Cuba and are fighting to build bridges of love between the two countries, the Seattle-based professor stressed via WhatsApp.

Lazo anticipated that the coming donation of “Leche pa’Cuba” would be “shortly for Las Tunas and Granma, the only two provinces we have left to reach with this campaign.”

He said the aim is evident: “They will continue to build those bridges of love and bring powdered milk to the island.”

The Cuban government’s humanism is unwavering

Santiago de Cuba, Apr 22 (Prensa Latina) The transfer to the homeland of Cubans stranded in Haiti thanks to the efforts of the Cuban government, confirms its commitment to its compatriots who today work, visit or live abroad.

The flights between Cap Haitian and the airports of the provinces of Camagüey and Santiago de Cuba in the Center and East of the country are testimonies to the political will and the humanist vocation of the Cuban authorities, even in the current economic conditions.

This is corroborated by the statements of the new arrivals who were grateful for the possibility of being reunited with their families after perceiving the consequences of the security crisis faced by the Haitian people, due to the fight between gangs that plunge the country into chaos.

When the world abounds with the option of aggression and violence or the use of mercenaries to confront conflicts, Cuba expresses the essence of solidarity and protection towards its people both inside the island and abroad, an ideal carried out beyond political or economic interests.

Cuban practices in foreign policy and international law are not mediated by geopolitics or the need for access to natural resources and raw materials at low prices; nor do these issues have to do with the approach historically given to human movements to other nations.

Apart from the economic and social effects of the intensified economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by the United States on the island, and the demands on the economy to meet the needs of the people, the Cuban government will not abandon its values.

Perla Rosales, deputy director of the Office of the Historian of Havana, presented the decoration at an event at the Friendship House, in the presence of Fernando González, president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP).

In an interview with Prensa Latina, Grevoul stated that he was moved by the medal, which at the same time “is a responsibility because I consider Eusebio Leal, who died in 2020, an exceptional man who did a lot not only for Old Havana but for all of Cuba.”
