Havana, July 10 (RHC) Representatives of 44 civil society organizations from several Latin American and Caribbean countries expressed their support for Cuba in the face of the intensification of the hostile policy of the United States.

 Through a declaration issued prior to the Fifth Meeting of the Regional Conference on Population and Development of Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, on the 3rd and 4th of this month, the participants demanded the lifting of the blockade against Cuba.

According to the Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU), the document also demands the exclusion of this Antillean nation from the State Department’s unilateral and illegal list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

It also recognizes and thanks Cuban medical cooperation and rejects the politically motivated infamy of considering the actions of these specialists in favor of health in many of the countries of the region as human trafficking.

The signatories come from Colombia, Peru, Brazil, El Salvador, Argentina, Guatemala, Honduras, Puerto Rico, Chile, Uruguay, Mexico and Ecuador.

Washington, July 10 (Radio Havana Cuba)– The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops urged Joe Biden’s administration to remove Cuba from the arbitrary list of countries sponsoring terrorism and begin the path of mutual understanding.

In a letter addressed to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the president of the Justice and Peace Committee, Bishop Elías Zaidan, reiterated the historic position of the Conference which, together with the Holy See and the international community, has also demanded the lifting of the blockade that has weighed on the Island for more than 60 years.

He recalled that when in 2021 the Donald Trump administration designated Cuba as a sponsor of terrorism, they expressed their profound disagreement and stressed the “longstanding position in favor of strong bilateral cooperation for the good of the American and Cuban people.”

“For decades, in conjunction with the Holy See and most of the international community, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has urged collaboration and mutual benefit!” the text stressed.

“I urge you, Mr. Secretary, to withdraw the designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism and maximize our country’s commitment to the good of the Cuban people,” Bishop Zaidan concluded.

This pronouncement joins the broad claim of religious leaders, churches and faith-based organizations that see Cuba’s inclusion in the list of terrorist countries as a coercive measure contrary to the ethics of their religious confessions.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, founded in 1966, is a permanent body that brings together Catholic bishops here.

Days before the end of his term, in January 2021, Trump put Cuba back on the unilateral list of state sponsors of terrorism, from which the Caribbean nation was removed in 2015 during the administration of Democrat Barack Obama.

Despite calls from inside and outside the U.S. to remove Cuba from that list, Biden continues to ignore the demand.

Havana, Jul 10 (Prensa Latina) To date, almost 50 governments globally have rejected Cuba’s inclusion in Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list, the Cuban Foreign Ministry (MINREX) informed on Wednesday.

Statements of rejection by movements, organizations, institutions, activists, and international figures who described this designation as unjust and arbitrary, and denounced its consequences for the Cuban nation and families also added to the demand.

In a letter addressed to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) urged the Joe Biden administration to remove Cuba from that list and take the path of mutual understanding.

The Russian State Duma (Lower House of the Federal Assembly) also rejected Washington’s provision, which limits the rights of Cubans in and outside their country, and hinders any humanitarian aid, business, investment, and trade for this nation and its citizens.

The persecution of financial transactions to and from Cuban territory and commercial relations affects all spheres of life.

Paradoxically, while the United States keeps Cuba on that list, it harbors groups that organize, finance, and carry out terrorist actions on its territory to undermine the revolutionary process.

On Monday, Cuba’s Interior Ministry (MININT) revealed details of an infiltration operation recently thwarted by specialized forces from that institution, aimed at attacking economic, social, and military targets with destabilizing purposes.

According to analysts, the US Government’s double standards in dealing with such a sensitive issue as terrorism expose the true nature of the policy with which successive US administrations have sought to overthrow the Cuban Revolution for more than six decades.

Managua, Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) Nicaragua’s “Love for Cuba” solidarity group rejected the terrorist plot against the Caribbean island planned in the United States in order to create unrest in the country.

The organization, which is a member of the Augusto C. Sandino Anti-imperialist Network of Solidarity with the Peoples, issued a statement in reference to the latest revelations about plans forged in Florida to perpetrate terrorist actions in Cuba.

The statement noted the arrest of Ardenys García Álvarez, 40, who illegally emigrated to the United States in 2014 and smuggled firearms and ammunition into Cuba by sea.

“The enemies of the Cuban people continue with the delirium of an alleged uprising on July 11, 2021, but they do not understand that these maneuvers were and will be defeated by the the Cuban people’s “homeland or death” decisive attitude,” the statement noted, adding that these kinds of actions are part of the imperial offensive to stop the advance of the progressive forces of the world, where the Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua axis stood up to fascist groups and supports the establishment of a new international order without Western hegemony.

“They desperately want to tarnish 45/19 in Nicaragua (45th anniversary of the Sandinista revolution), the 71st anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes garrisons (in Cuba) on July 26 (1953), and delegitimize the future and overwhelming electoral victory of the Venezuelan people on July 28,” said the statement, which underscored the importance of remaining alert.

The group stated that Cuba is not alone and expressed the need to close ranks and continue the fight against the United States blockade against Cuba.

The statement also denounced Cuba’s inclusion on the State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list and recalled that last May, the United States deleted Cuba from the list of countries that do not fully cooperate in the fight against terrorism.

“Cuba remains on the US blacklist of countries that support terrorism, which also includes Iran, North Korea and Syria, nothing has changed, let’s not be fooled (…) they are the terrorists,” the statement emphasized.

It called to unite to continue the fight for a fairer world for all peoples, and denounced Washington’s actions against other countries like Venezuela and Nicaragua.

Washington, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) German Congresswoman Sevim Dağdelen stressed here on Monday that it is a disgrace that Cuba is included on Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.

“I am in solidarity with Cuba and the Cuban people; I think it is irresponsible, a shame that Cuba is included on that list,” the congresswoman said in an interview with Prensa Latina, a few minutes after speaking at a protest outside the White House against the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Dağdelen, who is a member of the German Bundestag (Parliament) and the Foreign Affairs Committee, said, “We must unblock Cuba if we are truly in favor of human rights and the country’s development and sovereignty.”

That is why, I support Cuba’s struggle and the lifting of the blockade,” emphasized the parliamentarian, whose speeches at the “No to NATO, Yes to Peace” conference and Sunday’s protest in Lafayette Park, outside the Executive Mansion, mentioned the US naval base in the illegally occupied territory of Guantanamo, in eastern Cuba.

According to Brown University researchers, the wars of the United States and its allies have killed more than 4.5 million people over the last 20 years worldwide, the politician commented.

Attending the demonstration were representatives of a wide range of US groups and social movements and delegates to the “No to NATO, Yes to Peace” conference, which was held this weekend in advance of the military alliance’s Summit in Washington D.C. from July 9-11

The NATO Summit will bring together leaders and representatives of all 32 member States of the military alliance in the context of the 75th anniversary of its founding. \

NATO was formed by virtue of the Washington Treaty, signed on April 4, 1949.
