Shielding of the Venezuelan Electoral System Makes Fraud Impossible: Ramonet

The system offers guarantees to prevent any type of manipulation of the voting machines before, during, and after the voting day.

July 23 (teleSUR) On Monday, the Spanish writer Ignacio Ramonet stated that the characteristics of the Venezuelan electoral system make it impossible to obtain fraudulent results in the presidential elections on July 28.

“The far-right defamation campaign seeks to position the narrative that the presidential elections will be easily manipulated. That is impossible due to the strong safeguards of the electoral system,” he said at “Venezuela Decides 2024,” a TV program hosted by teleSUR President Patricia Villegas.

The Spanish intellectual also reminded that the Venezuelan electoral system offers multiple guarantees to prevent any type of manipulation of the voting machines before, during, and after the voting day.

“The far-right continues to argue that the system is susceptible to being manipulated by the authorities. This theory, however, does not hold,” Ramonet said, recalling that the electronic system is subject to several audits to which representatives of the opposition parties and international observers have access.

“The Venezuelan electoral system was designed so that it is not vulnerable and does not allow for cheating. It cannot be breached in any way,” Ramonet said, adding that the authorities ultimately guarantee the impartiality of the electoral process.

In an attempt to preemptively delegitimize what will happen on July 28, the far-right opposition is publishing supposed opinion polls with the intention of presenting their candidate as the winner. This early move will allow conservatives to “cry fraud” if their politicians do not win the presidential elections.

“Therefore, it must be repeated that neither the Venezuelan government nor the electoral authorities can cheat because the system is strongly safeguarded,” Ramonet reiterated, reminding that Venezuela is a place where democracy is guaranteed thanks to citizen participation.

He also predicted that the victory of Sunday will amaze the world. “It will be the most beautiful electoral victory, the biggest in the electoral history of Venezuela,” he said, while calling it a resounding and irreversible victory.

«Nobody is going to steal the right to peace, tranquility and future of the people”, Maduro said.

The president also praised the state of Yaracuy, because in thirty electoral processes it has been a state where Chavismo has been victorious.

The Venezuelan people will triumph with which they will win peace, the homeland, the workers. “I am simply Nicolás Maduro Moros, a man of the people. From the people I come and to the people I owe my life!” , he stressed and called on all the people to exercise their right to vote in the name of peace.

On the other hand, he recalled that the electoral victory 20 years ago against fascism was the basis for the creation of the missions and for the formation of a country that began to live its best times The Commission has already taken a number of initiatives in this field.

Following this line, he added that “Venezuela is prepared for a new stage”, recalling that this region has been the protagonist of victories.

Significance of Cuba’s National Rebellion Day highlighted in Syria

Damascus, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) Syrians and Cubans recalled in this capital the 71st anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Garrisons during the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista (1952-1958), stressing its historical, patriotic and revolutionary meanings.

Those present at the commemoration of this date ratified the spirit of solidarity, struggle, sovereignty, and mutual support that unites Syria and the Caribbean nation.

The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the diplomatic mission here, Luis Javier Cabañas, said that this event represented a decisive milestone in the long battle of the Cuban people for their full liberation.

We remember with pride this epic of our history led by young revolutionaries: Fidel Castro, Raúl Castro, and Abel Santamaría, who threw themselves into combat, with the ideals of freedom of José Martí, and gave their lives to give Cuba all the freedom and social justice, the diplomat said.

Salvadoran doctors call for solidarity with Cuba

San Salvador, Jul 23 (Prensa Latina) The Association of Health Professionals from El Salvador who Graduated in Cuba, called for actions of solidarity with the island and to exclude it from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.

The United States must remove Cuba from the list that they draw up of states that allegedly do not cooperate with “US counterterrorist efforts,” which is a continuation of the interventionist policy that seeks to destabilize and pressure the Cuban government, without considering the humanitarian consequences that such actions entail, the statement said.

This decision obstructs Cuba’s progress in fundamental areas, especially in the health sector, where its professionals strive daily to improve the quality of life of the population, the association highlighted and considered that Cuba demonstrated on countless occasions its commitment to peace and international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

The group called on the international community to condemn this policy and to demand Washington to stop it.

“The health and well-being of the people should not be held hostage by hostile and outdated policies that do not reflect the reality or aspirations for peace of the Cubans and Latin American peoples,” the statement added. “Peace, justice, and solidarity must prevail over interventionism and coercion.”

Cuba’s participation in UNESCO event in India is crucial

New Delhi, Jul 23 (Prensa Latina) Nilson Acosta, vice president of the National Heritage Council, noted the importance of Cuba’s participation in a UNESCO event here to analyze processes on sites of outstanding universal value.

The World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which chose India to host its 45th meeting, has the power to decide which property is inscribed on the list of outstanding places due to its cultural and natural contribution or is removed from that list because it has lost its outstanding universal value, Acosta told Prensa Latina.

Participants in the event are also analyzing the state of conservation of those sites and even if necessary the inclusion of properties in the list of endangered heritage, he added.

According to the Cuban delegate, the meeting is also an opportunity to examine issues and strategies for the projection and implementation of the convention on cultural and natural heritage, the instrument that establishes which places should be treasured for present and future generations.

Acosta pointed out that in Cuba’s case there is a sustained experience of years of work by the World Heritage Committee, and recalled that Cuba was a member of that group four times.

The vice president of the National Heritage Council stressed that Cuba is cooperating with other countries in the region to reach common issues and consult on aspects related to the implementation of the convention.

Cuba maintains the aforementioned cooperation as part of the Grulac, which brings together the Latin American and Caribbean nations, to reconcile decisions in a common goal, he stressed.

The event, which runs from July 21 to 31, aims to examine 27 nominations of sites to join the prestigious list of World Heritage.

On Tuesday, deliberations began on the state of conservation of 124 natural or cultural wonders already registered on the World Heritage List, including 57 that are considered in danger.
