Cuba’s ANPP leader exposes in Vietnam essence of US blockade

Hanoi, Jul 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuban National People’s Power Assembly (ANPP) President Esteban Lazo reiterated, in this capital on Saturday, that the essence of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade of the United States against his country is eminently political.

If this is not understood, it is impossible to understand the cruelty of this tightened siege, Lazo, who is also a Politburo member of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), said during a meeting with solidarity organizations, members of the state mission, and young Cuban students.

The ANPP president recalled that as early as April 1960, a US Undersecretary of State advised then-President Dwight Eisenhower to deprive the emerging Cuban Revolution of popular support by the only feasible means: inflicting as much economic damage as possible to create hardship on the population.

The aim of the tightened US blockade, which has lasted for more than six decades, has always been to eliminate socialism in Cuba, he noted.

During the meeting, Jorge Luis Broche, member of the Secretariat of the PCC Central Committee and head of its Economic-Productive Department, told participants about aspects of the current situation in Cuba and the main challenges of the Socio-Economic Development Plan by 2030.

He pointed out that external forces are hovering over the Cuban reality, creating complex situations that curb the economy’s progress. Broche reiterated that the severe and reinforced blockade of the United States is precisely the main obstacle.

American Association of Jurists Denounces U.S. Interference in Venezuela’s Elections on July 28th

The agency explains that the interference in the internal affairs of the South American country began “with a wide media campaign».

July 26 (teleSUR) The American Association of Jurists (AAJ) denounced this Friday that the United States (USA) and other allied nations, undertake actions and statements interfering and destabilizing, through hegemonic media and social networks, to destabilize the July 28 elections in Venezuela, building the matrix of opinion of a possible electoral fraud.

In a statement, the organization explains that the interference in the internal affairs of the South American country began “with a wide-ranging media campaign in which various personalities from the United States and allied governments called openly for voting against the current Venezuelan government”.

“In recent days, probably because they verified that the campaign described did not produce the expected results, they began to install the possibility of electoral fraud. In several press releases, the population is called to vote for the opposition and falsely claim to have evidence of the alleged alteration of the election result by the government headed by Nicolas Maduro”, The AAJ needs to be informed.

He also warned that the maneuvers are very similar to those that led to the coup against former Bolivian president Evo Morales in 2019, with the proven involvement of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Organization of American States (OAS) and the European Union, which left some dead, wounded and political prisoners, while depriving that country of strategic resources

The text reads,
The American Association of Jurists denounced harmful actions and statements regarding the July 28 elections.
We urge governments and their representatives not to make statements that encourage bloody confrontation in Venezuelan society, and we insist that peaceful cooperation between peoples must be resumed.

The document also states that the AAJ “has accredited international observers and escorts for the process of next July 28 in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We have verified that, as in previous elections, this is one of the most complete and secure electoral systems, administered only by the Electoral Power”.

In this regard, he indicated that in terms of technology, the Venezuelan electoral system presents 16 types of audit in different components, including its closed transmission system, The European Commission has also been working on this.

“In addition, polling stations are subject to citizen verification, with provisions such as the drawing of 30 members per table, even though they will only exercise function 3 of them, together with the witnesses designated by each political party. All of this, under meticulous regulations and regulations, with constitutional status”, he said.

The text further recalls that “the principle of non-intervention implies the right of any sovereign state to conduct its affairs without foreign interference”, while referring to documents such as the Charter of the United Nations, resolutions of the UN General Assembly, where they declare that states must refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of other nations.

“Historically, the weaker states clung to the principle of non-intervention as the only legal protection against the expansionist ambitions of the more powerful countries. Thus, the O.E.A.’s Charter, in Article 19, states that “No State or group of States has the right to intervene, directly or indirectly, and for whatever reason, in the internal or external affairs of any other. The above principle excludes not only armed force, but also any other form of interference or tendency to undermine the personality of the State, political elements, The Committee also notes that the Commission has made a number of recommendations to the Council, including those relating to the economic and cultural aspects”.

The AAJ explained that in view of this, it adds to the pronouncements of intellectuals, movements and social, cultural, professional, progressive forces that repudiate the US threats of destabilization. and the allied nations.

“We urge the Governments and their representatives not to make statements that encourage a bloody confrontation in Venezuelan society, and we insist that the path of solidarity and peaceful cooperation between peoples must be taken again”, he stressed.
