Havana, Mar 1 (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s national public health system will receive an injection of 17 million 940 thousand euros raised at an auction of humidors during the Habanos Festival, the presidency announced today.
Inaugurated on February 24, the event concluded last Friday night with a ceremony attended by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero.
The 25th edition of the Habanos Festival brought together some 1,300 lovers of premium cigars from more than 100 countries, who displayed a program of activities planned for the event at the Havana Convention Center.
In addition to the aforementioned auction, the agenda also included a trade fair with exhibitors from various latitudes, an international seminar on the subject, the launch of new vitolas and competitions related to the Habano.
Forum attendees also visited tobacco plantations in the western province of Pinar del Río and factories in Havana, where they witnessed the skills of local expert cigar rollers.
This year’s festival was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of Cohiba’s Behike line and the 150th anniversary of the Romeo y Julieta brand, one of Habano SA’s most iconic brands, the source said.
