President of Equatorial Guinea highlighted the friendship between Cuba and Africa

Malabo, March 24 (Prensa Latina) The president of Equatorial Guinea, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, today highlighted the importance Cuba places on Africa and the work of the Caribbean nation’s doctors and educators in that country.

The president addressed the issue during a meeting at the Presidential Palace with Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, who is on an official visit to the African nation.

The head of government of the Caribbean country conveyed greetings to the head of the Equatorial Guinean government from the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro, and from President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

At the meeting, described as warm on the Cuban government’s account on the social network X, Marrero also expressed his gratitude for the exchange to strengthen the ties between the two nations, forged over more than five decades.

This Monday, both parties signed an updated Framework Cooperation Agreement, as well as a protocol for the implementation of the Binational Working Group.

In the presence of the Cuban head of government and his Equatorial Guinean counterpart, Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua, the agreements were signed by the island’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Déborah Rivas, and by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Diaspora, Simeon Oyono Esono.

The signing ceremony took place after a working meeting between the delegations of both countries, where the need to diversify cooperation and economic and trade relations for mutual benefit was reaffirmed.

Marrero held official talks with his counterpart, an exchange that revealed a desire to elevate economic, trade, and cooperation relations to the same level as political relations.

The day before, the head of government met with more than 200 Cuban health and education workers, Equatorial Guinean graduates from schools on the island, and Cubans residing in Equatorial Guinea.
