Madrid, August 7 (Prensa Latina) An initiative called the Solidarity Catalog, “Solar Revolution 2026”, aims to raise funds for the purchase of solar panels for Cuba, a source close to the project highlighted today.
Similarly, Solar Revolution (Eguzki Iraultza) is a working group formed in Euskal Herria (the Basque Country), which aims to raise funds through the sale of items and bonds, for the acquisition and installation of solar panels in Cuba.
According to José Manzaneda, coordinator of Cubainformación, the proposal is based on a clear premise: “to contribute to guaranteeing energy sources for the Cuban people in a context marked by scarcity and blackouts, caused by the genocidal blockade of the United States government.
The Basque friendship association Euskadi-Cuba offers its support for the idea.
Among the products for sale are mugs, pens, tote bags, caps, and t-shirts with messages and images related to solidarity with Cuba. It’s a way to turn each purchase into a concrete act of solidarity.
The campaign also includes the possibility of making a direct financial contribution through solidarity bonds, the source revealed.
Free contributions are requested up to amounts equivalent to a quarter of a 400-watt solar panel, a LiFePO4 battery, or a complete solar system.
The campaign denounces the shortages and prolonged blackouts and points out their consequences for hospitals, health centers, schools and families, while linking this situation to Washington’s economic blockade of the Island and its tightening.
Along with the fundraising, the campaign incorporates a message of solidarity and resistance: “They will not be able to turn off Cuba!”, accompanied in Basque by “Ezin izango dute eguzkia blokeatu!” (“They will not be able to block the sun!”).
