Caracas, Jul 11 (Prensa Latina) The executive vice president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, informed that the Electric General Staff will be established today to optimize power generation and repair several plants, due to sabotages on that sector in the South American country.
She noted that the activation of that mechanism will start in the state of Zulia, which has been attacked by destabilizing factors that are trying to boycott public services to harm governmental development.
Rodriguez noted that the measure aims to reestablish the power system in Zulia, which has been unstable since last week as a result of constant electric fluctuations that have caused blackouts, thus ‘affecting the quality of life of Zulia residents.’
The vice president pointed out that this year, power facilities in western Venezuela were sabotaged, and she mentioned the attack on May 20 on the Barlovento substation, in Cabimas municipality, during the presidential elections, in order to affect the voting.
For his part, Electric Energy Minister Luis Motta Dominguez recalled that the attacks on the power system in Zulia started on December 23, 2017.
The actions to recover Venezuela’s power system are contained in the government’s working agenda on public services and other social policies established in the 2019-2025 Homeland Plan (a governmental program), proposed by President Nicolas Maduro and aimed at implementing solutions during the second semester of 2018.
