Venezuela Denounces US at UN as Threat to Regional Peace

Caracas, Dec 7 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Ambassador to the United Nations Samuel Moncada on Friday denounced at the UN Security Council the warmongering pretensions by the US Government against Venezuela.

‘We reject Washington’s manipulation through the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, to push forward its imperialist interests, foster its warmongering policy, and attack peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean’, he stressed.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry’s website noted that the diplomat expressed his opposition to the United States and OAS plans during the open debate on the role of states, regional agreements or organizations and the United Nations in the prevention and resolution of conflicts.

Moncada also rejected the violations of international law that the US government commits by coercing member nations of regional agencies in order to achieve its political domination agenda.

The OAS, specifically and intentionally, violates its founding Charter and threatens its members to join the campaigns of aggression against Venezuela, he stressed.

During the debate, the representative asked, on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement for greater cooperation and coordination between regional organizations and the United Nations, in line with the UN Charter.

As the president of the Non-Aligned Movement, Venezuela has repeated its call for cooperation and coordination between the United Nations and regional organizations, agreements and agencies and, according to established provisions, for its significant contribution to the preservation of international peace and security, he added.

He also expressed the need to develop integrated strategies and coherent programs to guarantee peace.
