TERCER FRENTE, Santiago de Cuba.— The legacy of Comandante Juan Almeida Bosque returned to illuminate these historic hills of the Sierra Maestra, during a commemoration of the 88th anniversary of his birth, during which he was honored at the Heroes and Martyrs of the Mario Muñoz Monroy Third Front Mausoeum here.
Leading a procession to the sacred site located on La Esperanza Hill, were Diógenes Almenares Batista and Mabel Hechavarría Llane, first secretary of the Party and president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s respectively.
Almeida, who participated in the Moncada assault and the Granma expedition, was a much loved, founding leader of the guerilla front in this region, as well as a writer and composer, above all, always loyal to Fidel and Raúl. (Granma)
