HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 23 (acn) Army General Raul Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and President of the councils of State and Ministers, sent on Monday a letter of congratulations to the Cuban children’s theater group La Colmenita, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its creation.
Gisela Gonzalez, president of the National Council of Performing Arts, read the document in the presence of Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers, and Culture Minister Julian Gonzalez, at Havana’s Convention Center.
The text points out that it’s cause for joy for the Cuban people that La Colmenita is celebrating its 25th birthday, and that this is the reason why he sent the company this message of congratulations with a lot of love.
The letter also points out that, more than a theater and music movement, the group has become a school for its members and the general public, and that throughout its over two decades of existence it has managed to promote values of Jose Marti’s ideas, such as love, altruism and solidarity, in cultural institutions, schools and the community.
It asserts that with La Colmenita the name of Cuba has shone in many countries of the world, and highlighted its contribution to causes as noble as the case of The Five.
