Raul Castro Expresses Cuba’s Solidarity with Venezuela

Raul Castro charged that today, Venezuela is the center of attacks by imperialism and those who seek to overthrow the region’s progressive governments.

Havana, Apr 19 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban lawmaker and leader Raul Castro reiterated today in this capital Cuba”s solidarity with Venezuela and its Bolivarian Revolution amid the crusade of the internal and external right wing.

Castro, who was until today the president of the Councils of State and of Ministers, reaffirmed the support for Venezuela, its legitimate government and the civic-military union led by Nicolas Maduro, who is giving continuity to the legacy of Hugo Chávez.

In his closing speech at the constituent sessions of the 9th Legislature of the People’s Power National Assembly (Parliament), Raul Castro charged that today, Venezuela is the center of attacks by imperialism and those who seek to overthrow the region’s progressive governments.

In his speech, he insisted on Cuba’s support for other peoples and governments in Latin America, including Bolivia and Nicaragua, and the world that are facing external pressure to revert the gains they have achieved.

Raul Castro also expressed solidarity with Syria, a recent victim of a new U.S. aggression, under the groundless argument of the use of chemical weapons by the government of that country in the fight against terrorism imposed from abroad.
