Havana, Jun 12 (Prensa Latina) Prensa Latina summoned today an international meeting of journalists and media executives in January, 2019, on occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Operation Truth, embryo for the creation of Prensa Latina.
The forum will debate present day topics of world media and commemorate six decades of the triump of the Cuban revolution and Operation Truth, summoned to give Latin America and the Caribbean their own voice.
Operation Truth gathered some 400 journalists, occasion on which historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro and commandant Ernesto Che Guevara denounced the hostile campaigns against Cuba and the news monopoly of international agencies.
After that meeting, it was agreed to create Prensa Latina on June 16, 1959, with Argentinean journalist Jorge Ricardo Masetti as Director.
Prensa Latina expects that a hundred figures, journalists and executives worldwide will attend the meeting, scheduled for January 21 and 22, 2019 in Havana’s Hotel Nacional de Cuba, emblematic institution of the Caribbean nation.
Among other topics, there will be panel discussions on The Media in Times of Globalization;
Risks and Dangers of Journalism in Present Times; and the Access to Information and Communication Technologies.
