Photo Exhibition on Cuba Opens in Athens

Athens, Jun 9 (Prensa Latina) ”Con Cuba en el Corazon” (With Cuba in the Heart) is the title of the photo exhibition that opened today at the Francisco de Miranda Gallery at the headquarters of the Venezuela Embassy in Greece.

The exhibition is part of the program of activities on the 10th Literature Festival in Athens (LEA), and will be open until June 15.

Landscapes, faces, monuments, sculptures, flora and fauna are some of the colorful themes chosen for the exhibition with photos taken by the amateut photographer Jose Oriol Marrero Martinez, who is the counselor and consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Greek Republic.

The exhibition, held especially to celebrate the 10th LEA Festival, is presented in the cities of Athens and Lefkada.

Subsequently, it will also travel other Greek cities such as Sparta, Patras, Kabala, Mycenae, the seat of the Greek Parliament and the Thibon high security prison for women, among others.

At the opening ceremony, the Cuban singer Ramon Soto Abreu, sang songs of different rhythms and was warmly welcomed by the audience.

Venezuelan Ambassador Farid Fernandez, Cuban Ambassador Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina, Consul Jose Oriol Marrero Martinez and LEA Festival’s general director, Adriana Martinez, addressed the audience.

The president of the Cuba Friendship Parliamentary Group, Nikolaos Syrmalenios, a lawmaker from the Syriza Party; and the president of the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE), Stavros Tassos, who is also a lawmaker from the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), were among those who attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
