Patriarch Kirill meets Cuban president in Moscow

HAVANA, Oct 30 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met today with Patriarch Kirill on the third and last day of his working visit to the Russian capital.

Diaz-Canel expressed the will to continue strengthening the excellent relationship with the Patriarchy of Moscow and all Russia and praised for the gesture of trust in proposing Havana as venue for his meeting with Pope Francis in 2016.

Kirill sent a warm greeting to Army General Raul Castro and recalled the support given by the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to the construction of an orthodox temple in Havana, in 2008.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz and Cuban Ambassador to Russia Gerardo Peñalver Portal attended the meeting.
