“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is the country with the largest reserves of crude oil, fresh water and natural gas on the planet, and that makes it a kind of struggle to take control of the loot, how the Spanish government did 500 years ago, but in this endeavor, (they) will fail,” – Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab.
Havana, March 13 (Radio Cadena Agramonte) – Dario Delgado Cura and Tarek William Saab, Attorneys General of Cuba and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, respectively, signed on Monday a collaboration agreement and a program that will contribute to the materialization of confrontation and the prevention of crimes.
In a meeting with the press in this capital, William Saab said that at present the Public Ministry he heads is immersed in the fight against public corruption, drug trafficking and money laundering offenses, increasingly transnational corporations for their Operandis mode, for which reason the agreement constitutes a guide to action for the fight together.
As a result, he said, in little more than six months that management allowed the capture of about 100 high-ranking persons linked to acts of corruption in the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela S.A (PDVSA), whose actions caused losses to the State by around 15 million dollars.
In addition, he said in the same period two large drug cartels were dismantled and they arrested a large number of citizens who banked more than four billion euros, with the usual loss to Venezuela.
The Venezuelan Attorney General emphasized that the justice fight today, in accordance with the procedural guarantees to the private companies involved in these crimes, is something almost unheard of in recent times when they were almost untouchable.
In relation to the current election process that develops in his country, he assured that the Public Ministry will have about 1,000 officials in order to protect and defend the human right of vote, and decide for peace.
He described as scandalous on a global scale the so-called Chairman of the diplomacy of the United States, Rex-Tillerson’s attempt to convene the Venezuelan armed forces to a military coup and the rupture of Venezuela’s constitutional order.
This call for the overthrow by force of arms of the legitimately elected president has been rejected globally, and at the same time presents the reality of a sector of the opposition that has no scruples of requesting and supporting military intervention.
William Saab considered transcendental cooperation agreements between Cuba and Venezuela an example of solidarity in the world, and he said that this was a line that at the end of the decade of the 1990s of the last century drew together Fidel Castro and Hugo Rafael Chávez.
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is the country with the largest reserves of crude oil, fresh water and natural gas on the planet, and that makes it a kind of struggle to take control of the loot, how the Spanish government did 500 years ago, but in this endeavor, it will fail,” the Attorney General said.
The signing of collaboration agreement between Cuba and Venezuela occurs during the visit of William Saab to the Island to participate in the XIV International Criminal Sciences 2018 Meeting and II Event Legality, Law and Society, that of the next 14 to the 16 will be held in the Palacio de Convenciones in Havana.
