Diaz-Canel Stresses International Interest in Trade with Cuba

Havana, Oct 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel highlighted on Monday the international interest in trade with his country despite the blockade imposed by the United States.

We inaugurate this day #FIHAV2018 as an expression of #SomosContinuity of the ideas of #FidelCastro. The international interest in the trade with Cuba is ratified in spite of the blockade, Diaz-Canel expressed on Twitter after the opening of the 36th edition of the International Fair of Havana (FIHAV 2018).

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, said at the opening ceremony that more than 24,000 square meters make up the exhibition area, which confirms the growing interest of foreign companies to establish business with the island.

The president of the Organizing Committee of the event also highlighted the large presence of the country’s main trading partners, including Venezuela, Russia, China and Spain, once again the most represented nation.

Malmierca considered that FIHAV 2018 will be an excellent space for concerting business and for exchanging commercial interests and investors, as well as confirming that the commercial exchange will include different activities dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the village of San Cristobal in Havana.

FIHAV 2018, scheduled to run until November 2, is also a scenario to promote Latin American and Caribbean integration, as well as one of the most representative commercial exchanges in Latin America and the Caribbean, the official added, referring to the more than 20 countries attending the fair.
