Cuban President Describes US Economic Blockade as Cruel

Havana, Oct 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Monday described the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than half a century as cruel.

‘In the next few hours, the creativeness of Cuban resistance will be tested again. Cuba will wage another diplomatic battle against the cruel and prolonged policy of blockade suffered by our people,’ the president wrote on his Twitter account @DiazCanelB.

In another Tweet, the Cuban head of State described as emotive and vibrant the concert that the singer songwriter Silvio Rodriguez gave in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He noted that the troubadour took the opportunity to denounce the US blockade.

‘An emotive and vibrant concert by Silvio yesterday in Avellaneda, a Buenos Aires neighborhood, with more than 100,000 people singing the anthological and essential songs. The author of El Necio denounced the blockade of Cuba,’ Diaz-Canel wrote.

He also congratulated the members of the National Ballet of Cuba, an institution that is celebrating its 70th anniversary.

‘We have inaugurated the 26th International Ballet Festival of Havana, the National Ballet of Cuba turns 70. Congratulations to its founders and members. Thanks to Alicia, Alberto and Fernando, great artists and great Cubans,’ Diaz-Canel posted on Twitter.

The National Ballet of Cuba and its biennial festival are a high expression of the Cuba that we are. Thanks for your huge work, your unbeatable prestige, your loyal love for what we are.
