Cuban Civil Society Addresses Summit of the Americas Agenda

Havana, Cuba, Mar 25.- Students, farmers, artists, self-employees, and other members of the Cuban youth are gathering today in Havana to reflect and speak their minds on issues relevant to the agenda of the 7th Summit of the Americas, to take place next month in Panama.

The forum was called by juvenile movements and student organizations to address issues like citizen participation, governance, the environment and energy, urban security, which will be at the center of a youth forum in Panama parallel to the summit of heads of state.

Previous to this youth forum, other actors of Cuban civil society also gathered to address similar agenda and to contribute ideas and proposals for the island´s delegation that will attend the civil society forum in Panama.

Today´s event will issue a final declaration by the end of the debates at the Cuba exhibit pavilion in downtown Havana.

The forum will close with cultural activities, book launchings, audiovisual sessions and a music concert. (ACN)
