Cuba Strengthens Foreign Investment in Economy

Havana, Oct 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, stressed on Monday the importance of strengthening foreign investment in the national economy.

We should strengthen the still incipient foreign investment in the Cuban economy, Malmierca said during the opening ceremony of the 36th edition of the Havana International Fair, FIHAV 2018, in which President Miguel Diaz-Canel attended.

Until November 2, a wide and varied international exhibition from the five continents are arranging to meet in the main Cuban trade fair and one of the major one in the region.

One of the main course of the event will be the 3rd Investment Forum, which will be held on October 30 and 31 at the theater and executive hall of Expocuba, the country’s largest exhibition site and traditional venue of FIHAV.

The business forum Russia, Latin America and the Caribbean, during which the parties will strengthen ties, and an event for the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Villa San Cristobal de La Habana, stress the program.

FIHAV has been continuously carrying out since 1983. As usual every year, the last edition had a broad participation of Cuban and foreign visitors, foreign official delegations, chambers of commerce and organizations promoting trade and investment from many parts of the world.

For five days, at the headquarters of this Fair, a favorable climate is created for the development of business meetings, business rounds, seminars, keynote speeches, among other activities.

In 2017, FIHAV had about 3,400 exhibitors from more than 70 countries, chose China as the best pavilion and recognized Spain as the most represented nation, occupying five of 25 pavilions in Expocuba.
