Colombian Dialogues between ELN and Government Resumes in Cuba

Havana, May 10 (Prensa Latina) Cuba welcomes today the 5th cycle of the peace dialogue table between the government of Colombia and the National Liberation Army (ELN), which was suspended in Ecuador last April.

The head of the team of guarantors, Iván Mora, stated that Cuba received the joint request to host the meeting, to which the Caribbean island responded with the promptness that deserves the efforts made by the parties to direct the peace process in Colombia, which is in a difficult and complex situation.

Achieving peace in Colombia is a historic longing for all of Latin America, so we do not hesitate to accept again the responsibility to welcome this process, said Mora.

We do so, added the diplomat, being coherent with the postulates of the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace, signed in Havana by the leaders of the region, in January 2014.

For his part, the head of the delegation of the Colombian government, Gustavo Bell, acknowledged the historical responsibility that his country has with the international community, for which it is necessary to take decisive steps to end the armed conflict and abide by the measures that promote the transformation of society.
