Havana, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) Pinar del Rio”s authorities, one of the Cuban provinces most affected by Hurricane Michael, are implementing recovery actions in the shortest possible time.
According to the local newspaper Guerrillero, Raul Garcia, Minister of Energy and Mines, met with workers of the territory’s Electric Company to organize actions to restore that service affected by almost 90 percent.
Livan Arronte, Director General of the Cuba Power Union, confirmed the availability of resources for these tasks, which will begin as soon as possible.
He added that several support contingents are going to Pinar del Rio from the central provinces of Ciego de Avila and Sancti Spiritus to attend the interruptions.
Three population settlements in the municipality of Viñales remain isolated due to the heavy rains associated with the storm, according to other reports.
There are also reports of damage to houses, with partial collapses and at least one is complete.
