Venezuela Moves Forward in Municipal Election Schedule

Caracas, Jul 27 (Prensa Latina) The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela will begin today the challenge, exclusion and verification of the 30 organizations with political purposes called to formalize their registration for the municipal elections of December 9.

The rector of the CNE, Tania D’Amelio, explained through the social network Twitter that the political entities were called to register since July 11, and as part of the electoral schedule the subscriptions ended on Thursday.

‘Between the 11th and the 26th of July the organizations with political ends had to register before the Electoral Power the registration form of registration of each organization and the list of its militants, which must contain the demonstrations of will equivalent to 0.5 percent of the total of electors of at least 12 states of the country, ‘he wrote on the digital platform.

D’Amelio said that the admission of these groups as political organizations will be announced by the CNE between August 29 and September 6.

For its part, on July 8, the Venezuelan electoral entity published on its website, the list with the provisional names of the groups convened for this process, among which are Citizen Action On Positive, The Force of Change and the Independent Party of Venezuela.

Likewise, as part of the electoral process, the special day of the Electoral Registry of new voters is maintained until August 23, to include young people who turn 18 before the elections, as well as foreigners with more than 10 years of residence in the country.

In the elections of municipal councils the Venezuelans will choose 4,900 representatives with their respective alternates.

Of these, one thousand 703 will be chosen nominally, 685 by lists and 69 by the indigenous communities, in addition to the representatives to councilors of the 335 municipalities of Venezuela.
