Venezuela and Cuba Strengthen Cooperation in Health Care

Caracas, Dec 21 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela and Cuba on Friday strengthened joint cooperation in health matters with the forthcoming creation of a company to repair and maintain equipment from Venezuela’s Servicio Autnomo de Elaboraciones Farmacéuticas.

Venezuelan Health Minister Carlos Alvarado noted that the two nations signed new agreements in the context of the 16th Summit of Heads of State and Government from the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our Americas-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP)

During the meeting, held in Havana on December 14, both ministers formalized a new agreement to train technicians and provide electromedicine services in Venezuela, the minister said.

The document was signed with Cuban Public Health Minister Jose Angel Portal to promote the training of Cuban personnel for Venezuelan technicians and strengthening the National Public System in Venezuela, Alvarado added.

Since October 30, 2000, Venezuela and Cuba have promoted bilateral exchange through a bilateral agreement that includes efforts to provide free and quality medical care to the entire Venezuelan population.

The initiative consists of 12 issues, eight of which are related to biogenesis and four deal with the exchange of training and knowledge between the two countries.
