Havana, Jun 2.- President of the Inter-American Federation of Philately (FIAF) James Peter Mazepa, is a champion of closer relations between Cuba and the United States.Mazepa is one of the leading figures attending the First International Cuba Cup of Philately (Study of stamps and postal history) taking place here in the capital from Saturday to Wednesday.
Mazepa, aged 73 years old, told Cuba’s National News Agency that he was pleased with his first visit to Cuba, having been invited by the event’s organizing committee.
In addition to Cuba and the United States, countries like Costa Rica, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru, Spain and Canada are also represented in the event.
The competitive event will exhibit samples of the Latin American postal history and collections which have been awarded at the international philatelic event. (Prensa Latina).
