Turkey Ratifies Rejection of US Blockade on Cuba

Ankara, Sep 12 (Prensa Latina) Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu confirmed his government’s position against the U.S. blockade on Cuba during a meeting with Cuban ambassador to this capital, Luis Alberto Amoros Nuñez, diplomatic sources reported today.

Cavusoglu expressed Turkey’s historic commitment to support the resolution on the need to end the U.S. blockade on Cuba the Havana government will present at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly late this month.

Both nations also pledged to continue deepening the bilateral, political and economic ties, which experienced an important boost after the trip to Turkey of Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Ileana Nuñez Mordoche, leading a major delegation in June.

As a result of this visit, new contacts were carried out during the summer months that told in advance future visits and agreements between both countries in health, tourism and transportation, among others, diplomatic sources told Prensa Latina.

The meeting between Cavusoglu and Amoros also served to establish concrete steps to expand and institutionalize bilateral relations and trade exchanges.
