Hanoi, Apr 3 (Prensa Latina) The visit of the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV), Nguyen Phu Trong, to Cuba contributed to boost bilateral cooperation in science and technology, stressed here the minister of this sector, Chu Ngoc Anh.
In remarks to VNA news agency, Ngoc Anh said that the portfolios in charge of these matters signed a memorandum of understanding and an action plan until 2020 that paves the way for greater collaboration.
Cuba was interested in our advances in agriculture, construction materials, atomic energy in medicine and other high technologies in use in Vietnam, he said.
For our part, he added, we express the intention of acquiring biotechnological and pharmaceutical products from the island.
But both nations still have a high potential to expand cooperation in science and technology, said Ngoc Anh, who was part of the large Vietnamese delegation that traveled to Cuba from March 28 to 30.
Yesterday, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Tran Tuan Anh, also highlighted the importance that the visit of the Secretary General of the PCV to the largest of the Antilles had in this area.
Tuan Anh said that, apart from sealing several important businesses, the parties decided to review the legal framework needed to sign a new commercial one, as soon as possible, aimed at promoting mutual purchase-sale operations, joint production, investment and access to the respective markets.
The visit of Nguyen Phu Trong has a high historical significance because it vividly reflected the friendship and solidarity between the two parties, States and peoples, and to open a new chapter in our trade and cooperation relations, he noted.
