Solidarity Movement Venezuela-Cuba Demands End of Blockade

Caracas, Oct 31 (Prensa Latina) The Movement of Friendship and Mutual Solidarity Venezuela-Cuba demanded on Wednesday the end of the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States against Cuba through a statement rejecting the policy.

The communiqué, which Prensa Latina had access to, points out these sanctions as a major obstacle to the country’s development due to the loss of billions of dollars, as well as a violation of the Charter of the United Nations and a threat to peaceful coexistence in the planet.

It also denounces how the United States ignores the twenty-six previous votings of the members of the international organization, an attitude that should be binding for the preservation of peace and human rights in the world.

Since the arrival of Donald Trump, bilateral relations have experienced a significant deterioration as a result of the resurgence of the so-called embargo against Cuba and the reversal of all policies implemented by Barack Obama that sought to recognize the independence and self-determination of that nation, it adds.

On the contrary, the new administration returns to overcome stages of interventionism, aggression, and state terrorism against the island and other Latin American countries that have decided to be free and independent, it denounces.

‘The best protest we can do today against this irrational policy is to stand firm in the fight for a better world, to strengthen unity and to summon, with the greatest sense of breadth to the world, to reject this brutal blockade forcefully,’ it adds.
