Havana, Oct 27 (Prensa Latina) The 3rd Investment Forum, the main event at the 36th Havana International Trade Fair, FIHAV 2018, which will open on October 29, will strengthen contacts between Cuban and foreign business people, organizers said.
Investments General Director Deborah Rivas said the forum will allow business people interested in being part of investment projects identified in the portfolio of opportunities to make their first contacts.
Rivas told Prensa Latina that the foreign business people who will attend the meeting are already coming to Cuba with an agenda of interests, as they previously registered on the platform of the forum through the Cuban embassies in their respective countries.
This third forum will strengthen the capacity to make contacts between national and international business people, to reach business agreement with foreign capital, so that the country can increase the level of exports and reduce imports, she said.
Most of the strategic economic sectors in Cuba are identified in the intentions of investors, such as renewable energy, agriculture and forestry. New projects have been presented in health care and the pharmaceutical industry, among others.
According to Rivas, this kind of meeting raises more and more interest and as an example of this is that about 295 bilateral meetings were held during the second forum, a figure considerably higher than the previous one.
Among the new features of the third forum is an exhibition by Vietnamese entrepreneurs, the first concessionaire at the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM), an economic enclave located 45 kilometers northwest of Havana.
