International Workshop on Dengue Convened in Cuba

Havana, Jan 2 (Prensa Latina) The Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute (IPK) of Cuba called the 16th International Course on Dengue, Zika and other Emerging Arboviruses, to be held from August 12 to 23, 2019.

During the course, national and international professors will update participants about the global epidemiological situation of the main arboviruses, medical importance for humans, their clinic and laboratory diagnosis, organizers said.

Also, the experts will talk about the development of vaccines and antivirals, new control tools, surveillance, emergency response, the influence of climate change and new international initiatives to mitigate their effects.

Through lectures, round tables, symposiums and practical activities, doctors, virologists, immunologists, sociologists, epidemiologists, entomologists, health administrators, among others, will share knowledge at the IPK.

According to the agenda, general topics include: Integrated vector management; Impact of Zika infection on the pregnant woman and the newborn; Mechanisms of resistance to insecticides; The community in the control of Aedes aegypti and Research priorities.
