Highlighted in Geneva Cuban Progress in Favor of Children and Women

Geneva, May 16 (Prensa Latina) Participants at the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) highlighted today Cuba”s actions in defense of children’s rights, gender equality and free access to health and education.

Senegal, Serbia, Zimbabwe and Ecuador highlighted projects promoted in favor of children and adolescents on the Caribbean island, and welcomed the government’s inclusive plans for people with disabilities.

Other countries such as Argentina, Portugal, Honduras and Mali congratulated the Caribbean nation for bringing literacy experiences beyond their borders and helping to rid millions of people in the world of this scourge.

According to official data, thanks to the Cuban method ‘Yes, I can’ more than nine million people in the world have learned to read and write.

Like this, Cuba’s solidarity vocation in other areas such as health also merited recognition from other states, including Angola, Gabon and Ghana.
