Caracas, Nov 6 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Popular movements and social organizations will hold a national preparatory meeting on November 10 and 11, prior to the first International Assembly of the Peoples, scheduled for February 2019, the Foreign Ministry announced.
During the day of debates, regional and sectoral meetings will be held throughout the country to address ‘the challenges of people’s power against the offensive by the Empire and capital,’ according to a press release published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The objective of the International Assembly of the Peoples is to build a platform of popular movements that will follow and deepen the path taken by the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chavez (1954-2013), in pursuit of unity and international solidarity, the source said.
It also seeks to create a communal and socialist alternative for the peoples of the world, which will bring together various expressions of international and national struggles against imperialism, capitalism, patriarchy, colonialism, large estates, racism, religious intolerance, wars and repression.
For this first meeting, it is expected the participation of more than 200 popular movements and organizations that will have the task of triggering a debate process within the Venezuelan people in all its expressions of struggle, the press release from the Foreign Ministry concluded.
