Cuba’s Work to Prevent Cerebrovascular Diseases Highlighted

Havana, Jun 9 (Prensa Latina) Conscientious work not only to treat but also to prevent and then rehabilitate cerebrovascular diseases (CVD) is done by Cuban medical and paramedical personnel, according to an expert in cardiology.

‘We must recognize the work done to address these diseases, which are considered the first cause of death in Cuba and the world,’ Margarita Dorantes, from the Arrhythmia and Cardiac Stimulation Service at the Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery Institute in this capital, told Prensa Latina.

For example, cardiac arrhythmia (CA) is very common in patients with heart failure, and our service has made several efforts to treat each case, she said on the last day of the 30th Central American and Caribbean Congress of Cardiology.

An example of the work done by the national health system is the state-of-the-art equipment that we have, she said.

Even foreigners who visit our Institute recognize that Cuba provides quality service with top-level devices, noted the specialist, who alternates her work as a doctor with teaching.
