Havana, Jun 26 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban public health system fosters rehabilitation services, and this has permitted to benefit the Cuban population and people from other countries, said a Cuban specialist here Thursday. Doctor Maritza Leyva, head of the Integral Rehabilitation Program of the Cuban Public Health Ministry, told Prensa Latina that all the hospitals of the island are being transformed and receiving new equipment, technology and training of their respective personnel.
“Cuba is a privileged nation, because of the high quality of the personnel giving such services,” said Doctor Leyva during a workshop, as part of the 1st Cuban Industry International Convention and Exhibit (Cubaindustria 2014).
She also said the Integral Rehabilitation Program, opened in 2003, permitted a greater approach to the population, using an updated technology and adequate formation of their personnel.
She said that in this way, several specialties such as physical medicine, rehabilitation, logopedics, defectology, natural medicine and others, are integrating a whole to fight against discapacity.
Cuba has collaboration in this field with 36 countries of the world, among them Venezuela, Haiti and Portugal.
