Cuban President Calls for Social Protagonism in Education

Havana, Apr 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel urged here to address education as a priority for the entire society. We have to banish the idea that education is a problem of family or school, it is a multifactorial issue, which in the case of Cuba and its Revolution is a theme for the whole society, he said when closing a three-day national seminar to organaze the 2018-2019 school year.

In his speech, the president emphasized the importance of history and reading the work by National Hero José Martí (1853-1895), the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016), and the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Raúl Castro.

Díaz-Canel also called for pedagogical training and professional improvement of educators, and to pay more attention to newly graduated teachers.
