Cuban National Music Award 2018 Recognizes Two Figures

Havana, Dec 29 (Prensa Latina) Musicologist and researcher Jesus Gomez Cairo and trumpet player Marcos Antonio Urbay Serafín will receive today the National Music Award 2018 for their lifetime achievements.
The prize will be given to them at the San Francisco de Asis Square in the historical center of Havana, where a concert will be offered by the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Joaquin Betancourt.

Gómez Cairo, one of the most renowned music researchers of the island has also practiced teaching and given conferences in prestigious universities of several countries; since 1997 he is director of the National Museum of Music. Urbay Serafín played in several of the most popular Cuban music groups, among which the Riverside, Tropicana Night Club and National Symphony Orchestra, of which he was a founding member.
