Cuban Historian Eusebio Leal Receives Paraguayan Distinction

Havana, Oct 4 (Prensa Latina) The Historian of Havana, Eusebio Leal, received here the National Order of Merit in the Grade of Grand Officer, granted by the Presidency of the Republic of Paraguay to personalities promoting the history of America.

The ordinance was issued on September 13, 2018 and states that the distinction honors those renowned figures deserving of Paraguayan national gratitude.

On this occasion, it was awarded to Dr. Leal, who stands out as an important promoter of the culture and historical knowledge of the peoples of our continent, the text states.

The cultural rapprochement between the Republic of Paraguay and Cuba has grown thanks to personalities such as the Cuban intellectual, who has more than enough merits to be distinguished for his successful career, the document declares.

Such high award was given to Leal in the Museum of the City, former Palace of the General Captains.

The National Order of Merit granted by the Republic of Paraguay was created by the National Congress of that country in an extraordinary session in 1865.
