Havana, Jul 28 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez is receiving today in Havana the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian, who is making a two-day official visit to the island.
According to the agenda published here, Le Drian will visit areas of Havana’s historic center tomorrow, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, while French sources also point to a meeting with the Cuban head of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca.
The foreign ministers of Cuba and the European country held a working meeting in Paris in May this year, which was described by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs as cordial and productive.
The sides then noted ‘the positive progress of the bilateral relationship and exchanged views on current international issues’, according to the islandÂ´s official sources.
With his arrival in Havana from Colombia, where he spent three days, Le Drian has become the first European Foreign Minister to visit the country after the election of Miguel Diaz-Canel as President of Cuba on April 19.
