Cuba Wins Female Water Polo in Barranquilla

Barranquilla, Colombia, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) Cuba won here today the gold medal in the women’s water polo at the Central American and Caribbean Games, after easily defeating Puerto Rico in the finals.

With a score of 12-5, the Cuban team dominated its rival. The first quarter ended 2-2, in the second and third the winners ended 5-1 and 4-1, while the fourth third finished 1-1.

The Cubans Madonni Chavez, Dalia Grau and Mayelin Bernal excelled as goal scorers, each with three goals.

In the Veracruz-2014 edition Cuba finished in third place, after falling defeated in the semifinals just before the Puerto Rican athletes.

The bronze medal in Barranquilla-2018 went to Mexico, after beating Venezuela 12-11.
