Cuba, U.S. Experts Review Agreement on Meteorology, Climate

Havana, Nov 6 (Prensa Latina) Specialists from Cuba and the United States recently discussed a cooperation agreement on meteorology and climate signed between the two countries in 2016, Cuban authorities informed on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), of Cuba indicates in a note that a representation of that agency and the Institute of Meteorology reviewed the agreement with experts from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the city of Miami, from October 30 to November 1.

During the meeting, specialists updated on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the exchange of information and research on meteorology and climate, signed between the governments of Cuba and the United States in December 2016, in accordance with the institutional text.

The meeting took place in a respectful and professional atmosphere, which reflected the willingness of both parties to move forward in bilateral relations in this sphere of mutually advantageous cooperation, adds CITMA.

It also reports that the Cuban delegation participated in a flight to appreciate the operation of a hurricane-hunting aircraft, used to monitor the evolution and trajectory of tropical cyclones.
