Havana, Jan 27 (Prensa Latina) From February 19 to 24, the fourth edition of the Salsa Festival will take place in this capital, an event that will bring together the country’s leading dance music orchestras and international artists, the organizers informed this weekend.
Among the local groups that will liven up the days include José Luis Cortes and NG la Banda, Haila María Mompié and his group, Adalberto Álvarez and his Son, Alexander Abreu and Habana D ‘Primera, and Los Van Van, to whom the appointment is dedicated for its 50 years of creation.
During the festival, well-known DJs from Spain, Germany, Italy and Slovenia will also be presented.
The main venue of the event will be the Havana Metropolitan Park and will also be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Cuban singer and composer Benny Moré.
Organized by the Carnival Company and the Provincial Directorate of Culture of Havana, with the support of important institutions of the island, the Salsa Festival has among its objectives to promote popular Cuban dance music.
In addition, according to its main promoter, musician Maykel Blanco, this event aims to promote and make known to the world the salsa music that is now produced in Cuba, as well as dance and other artistic manifestations.
