Cuba Hosts Seminar “In Canoe Through a Culture of Nature”

Havana, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) An international seminar dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the expedition ”In Canoe from the Amazon to the Caribbean”, led by Cuban naturalist Antonio Nuñez Jimenez (1923-1998), begins here today with delegates from Latin America, Spain, Australia and the United States.

The voyage, of 17,422 kilometers through 20 countries, started in March 1987 from Misahualli, an Ecuadorian site on the banks of the Napo River, and finished in the Cuban capital in June 1988.

‘In Canoe Through a Culture of Nature’ is the title of the seminar, organized by the Antonio Nuñez Jimenez Foundation (FANJ), which perpetuates the work of who is considered the fourth discoverer of Cuba.

A keynote speech by Havana City Historian, Eusebio Leal, as well as the screening of the documentary film dedicated to the naturalist, are included in the academic program.
