Cuba Hosts International Congress Oftalmología 2018

Havana, May 3 (Prensa Latina) The International Congress, Oftalmología 2018, started today in this capital to debate the current and future challenges of the specialty, globally, with the participation of delegates from more than 10 countries.

The event, scheduled from May 3 to 5 at the Conference Center in Havana, includes today a speech by Japanese Takayuki Akahoshi, considered one of the most innovative surgeons worldwide.

Akahoshi will give a keynote speech on the phaco chop technique, which made cataracts surgery more efficient.

The president of the Cuban Society of Ophthalmology, Juan Raul Hernandez, will lead the symposium ‘Cataract surgery in the 21st century’, and Chilean Miguel Rio will analyze the refractive approach of high corneal astigmatism.

According to Hernandez, all subspecialties of this discipline will be the object of debate, in the event that will be held under the theme: Ocular Health available to everyone.

The onco-ophthalmology, technological advances in neuroophthalmology, diabetic patient management in ophthalmology, vitreoretin surgery update, advance in macular surgery, are some of the issues of the congress.

The scientific program of Oftalmologia 2018 also includes the modalities of electronic posters and video conferences.
