Cuba Condemns Assassination Attempt Against Nicolas Maduro

Havana, Aug 8 (Prensa Latina) The Organization of Solidarity with the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America (OSPAAAL) condemned the assassination attempt against the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro.

A failed attempt to assassinate Maduro through a terrorist operation at the service of the oligarchic ultra-right and imperialism took place on August 4 during the military parade commemorating the 81st anniversary of the Bolivarian National Guard, says a statement to which the Prensa Latina had access.

In the opinion of the OSPAAAL, these groups appeal to extreme criminal operations because they are cornered and politically defeated by the audacity of the counterattacks provided by the Bolivarian Revolution to destabilizing and unconstitutional plans.

In Venezuela there will be no fratricidal war, there will be no military intervention of the empire. The conspiracies of the reactionary axis Miami – Bogotá – Caracas will be frustrated. There will not be the remotest possibility of success for stateless mercenaries, the text says.

The document describes the Venezuelan people as brave and noble and highlights the support of the men and women who accompany them in their heroic resistance to the coup violence and against the economic, political and diplomatic warfare applied by their adversaries.

Peace, the humanist essence of genuine Chávez and Bolivarian popular democracy, will be imposed by the force of truth, perseverance and reason, the communiqué stresses.

As a militant of tricontinental solidarity, the OSPAAAL repudiates the attempt to assassinate president Maduro and ratify its solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution.
