Havana, July 17 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ana Teresita Gonzalez has ratified this Wednesday the commitment for the rapprochement between the nation and its emigration in the closing session of the Consul Working Meeting.
Consular work is of great importance to unite all Cubans living abroad and is a priority right now in Cuban politics, Gonzalez said.
She also urged solidarity and the need to fight for the elimination of the blockade imposed almost six decades ago by the United States against the country.
The Deputy Foreign Minister said that priorities include increasing the mobilization of Cubans living abroad against the blockade and the application of the Helms-Burton Act.
‘Cuban emigration must become a force for political influence with actions in different spheres to demonstrate that the machinery orchestrated by the Washington administration is not worthwhile,’ she pointed out.
The official called for the 4th Regional Meeting of Cubans Living Abroad, to be held in Mexico from Oct. 18-20.
‘That event will become one more support for the policy of the Revolution to confront the aggressions of imperialism against our country ‘, Gonzalez asserted.
