Cuba Boosts Tourism with World’s Top Brands of Wines

Havana, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) The Spanish wineries Freixenet are currently introducing new wines into Cuba to enrich the island’s high-level cuisine.

The director of UCSA Freixenet for Latin America and the Caribbean, Luis Ortega Mateo, told Prensa Latina on Monday that these novelties are called Prosecco, a sparkling wine with a Denomination of Origin (DO), produced in authorised areas of Italy, considered a jewel.

Also in this novel dossier is Gloria Ferrer, a sparkling wine obtained through traditional methods, made in the Freixenet wineries in California, United States, the first to produce this type of traditional product, now in Cuba.

Mia Mojito and Mia Sangria, two extremely new and fresh products, favorable for the warmth of this island, follow the Mia Freixenet brand, focused above all on young palates.

Freixenet celebrates 32 years from the beginning of its operations in Cuba with a strong presence in island tourism.

This Catalan winery is one of the most important brands of sparkling wines in the world, the most international, with exports to 130 markets (countries), when they sell nine million nine-litre boxes per year from Spain.

The Freixenet group has 20 wineries worldwide, he said, among which Freixenet, Segura Viudas and Castelblanc stand out, especially for Australia, Argentina, Mexico, California and France.

Freixenet is a family business founded in 1914 with roots dating back to 1861. It is Spain’s largest exporter of beverages, as well as the world’s largest producer of cava. The company is headquartered in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, Barcelona.
