Costa Rican Solidarity Committee Demands End to US Blockade of Cuba

San Jose, Oct 27 (Prensa Latina) The Costa Rican Committee of Solidarity with Cuba demanded that the United States immediate lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade it has imposed on Havana for more than half a century.

At the same time, the friends of the Cuban Revolution in Costa Rica called on their government to vote at the United Nations General Assembly in favor of an end to this criminal siege by Washington, the Committee said in a statement posted on social networks.

The Committee noted that on October 31 and for the twenty-seventh consecutive year, Cuba will submit the resolution Necessity to End the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States at the UN General Assembly.

Costa Rican supporters of Cuba expect that, as in previous years, the resolution will receive a majority support from the international community to reaffirm once again its position against this criminal, brutal and unjust blockade.

They pointed out that the United States must unilaterally and unconditionally lift the blockade, which has serious consequences for Cuban society and constitutes the main obstacle to Cuba’s development.

‘The government of Donald Trump (president of the United States) with his bullying and arrogance insults the world, ignoring the repeated condemnation of the hostile and cruel policy of the blockade against Cuba,’ concluded the statement from the Costa Ricans in solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.
