A Call to Cubans to Perpetuate Che Guevara’s Legacy

Havana, Jun 12 (Prensa Latina) The commitment to daily work, ethics and honesty are part of Argentine-Cuban guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara’s legacy, an example that must be perpetuated, assured today the professor and researcher Santiago Rony Feliú.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the also Cuban filmmaker and diplomat commented that in the current scenario of the island and the world, the qualities of the revolutionary assassinated in Bolivia in October 1967, who on June 14 would be 90 years old, have full validity.

We see that for decades the epic Che, the guerrilla commander and the symbol have prevailed but it is also necessary that the new generations follow his discipline, effort and loyalty, insisted on the headquarters of the Solidarity Organization of the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America (Ospaaal), of which Feliú is a member.

He urged the young people to listen to the speeches of the guerrilla commander and to approach Che’s life and work.

From the Ospaaal we have worked in that direction, with initiatives such as the Guevarian Year, pointed out the editor of the Tricontinental magazine.

According to Feliú, the Guevarian Year began on July 21, 2017 – on his anniversary of being the first guerrilla promoted by Fidel Castro to the rank of commander in Sierra Maestra – and ends on Thursday, June 14.

Among the activities developed during this stage stand out the elaboration of a calendar with 12 posters and the publication of a book by Feliú himself, entitled ‘Epic Song to Tenderness, he underlined.

According to the member of the Ospaaal, the book consists of a compilation of 158 songs dedicated to Ernesto Guevara, from a hundred authors from 17 Spanish-speaking countries.

In addition to Cuba, the text was published in El Salvador, Guatemala and Brazil, and will soon be released in Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Spain and Chile, he added.
